Google acquires and kills products

About couple of years ago Google bought Gizmo5 - service that among other things allowed to integrate Google Voice with Skype.
Immediately after acquisition Gizmo5 discontinued new account registrations.
Then in April 2011 they killed the project:

Today I found out that in May 2011 Google purchased another useful service: Sparkbuy (laptops shopping & comparison web site).

Again, Google killed the service.

Yet another disappointment.
