Car accident

dennisgorelikToday was my stupid day. And I was kind of lucky and unlucky at the same time.
I've hit the telegraph pole by my car. Actually I’ve completely cut the pole off.

I was lucky because:
1) The telegraph pole was made from wood, not from concrete. So I just cut the pole and my car went forward.
I got no injuries.
2) I damaged only the pole. I didn't hit any person at all.
3) My car is not expensive. ~$2500 with taxes.
How it happened:
~6:20 pm - I was going home. I was quite tired. When I sit in my car I discovered that a bird had made a piece of shit on the windshield of the car.
I drove out of the parking lot and decided to clean the windshield. I turned on windshield wipers, turned on water, and started to watch how cleaning process was going on. It was practically clean when I felt that my car hit something. It was a border. Next second I realized that I'm going in the wrong direction and tried to press the brake. Instead I pressed the accelerator. But actually it didn't matter. Because at the same time I cut off the telegraph pole. My car stopped after 3 meters and I, at a loss, watched how the telegraph pole was falling down to my car. The pole hit my car twice. It did some additional damage to my car, but not to me.
Next moment I realized that I still keep my foot on accelerator :-O.
I called 911. The police came in ~10 minutes.
Next part was basically boring. But one policewoman was laughing a little :-)

I was wrong: now I know that there are telegraph poles on the sidewalk of this street :-)
