Musk outlines scope of plan for DOGE cuts, starting with USAID
Musk said he has Trump’s blessing for the move to end USAID as a stand-alone agency and fold what’s left of it into the State Department. If it turns out the US really needs such an organization in the future — or any of the regulations he aims to cull — they could simply just be created again.

USAID doesn't do squat for the poor people in humanitarian crisis beyond the bare minimum needed to support their PR campaign to convince us they are a "humanitarian" organization. I was a USAID contractor for eight years and was astounded by the level of corruption and incompetence. One of my local USAID reps tried to get me fired because he insisted that I hire a PR firm for $500,000 per year to manage a marketing program everyone agreeed we didn't need (except him of course). Turns out, his wife was a partner in the firm he wanted me to hire. Another local USAID rep disagreed with me when I recommended shutting down a multi-million dollar per year project because were were accomplishing absolutely zero and the local group we were advising only kept us there because their government agreed to accept USAID advisors. Her response was "I know you aren't accomplishing anything but that doesn't matter. If we cancel the project, we can't ask for more money for next year's budget."
In the eight years I worked for USAID in three different countries, I never once saw or heard of any boxes of food being delivered to anywhere. Just a lot of NGO's set up put money in the pockets of locals and local politicians who would support US policy, buy US military equipment, sell off their country's land and businesses to US companies, and promote their liberal social programs to indoctrinate the local population into the US way of thinking.
